Society of Petroleum Geophysicists
The Society of Petroleum Geophysicists (SPG) is a premier professional organization focused on the advancement of geophysical methods and technologies in the petroleum industry. It was established on August 15, 1992 with it's headquarters in Dehradun, Uttarakhand; presently affiliated to international society "Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG)" USA, European Association of Geoscientists & Engineers (EAGE) - Netherlands & Australian Society of Exploration Geophysicists (ASEG), Australia. SPG serves as a vital platform for geophysicists to share knowledge, conduct research, and collaborate on innovative solutions for hydrocarbon exploration and production. The society publishes reputable journals and organizes key events, such as the biennial SPG Conference, which attract professionals and experts from around the globe. SPG also emphasizes the importance of fostering young talent through its student chapters, which are active in universities and institutes. These chapters provide students with valuable opportunities for learning, professional development, and networking, preparing them to contribute effectively to the evolving landscape of petroleum geophysics.

Indian Geophysical Union
Circulating a letter signed by fifteen leading geophysicists of the country in the year 1963 formed the Indian Geophysical Union. The Indian Geophysical Union (IGU) is a prestigious professional organization dedicated to the promotion and advancement of geophysics in India. Established with the objective of fostering research, education, and collaboration in geophysics, IGU plays a crucial role in uniting geoscientists from various disciplines. The union organizes national and international conferences, seminars, and workshops to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and innovative ideas. IGU also publishes scholarly journals and bulletins, contributing significantly to the body of geophysical research. Through its student chapters in universities across India, IGU actively encourages young geophysicists to engage in research, networking, and professional development, ensuring a vibrant future for the geophysical community in the country.

Association of Exploration Geophysicists
AEG was formed in 1974 to encourage young talented Geophysicists by Prof. VLS Bhimasankaram of Centre of Exploration Geophysics, Osmania University, Hyderabad. Under his guidance as secretary, AEG was instrumental in developing many young minds who are today eminent Geophysicists of National and International repute. AEG later encouraged students and Research scholars by honouring toppers in University and the best PhD thesis. By collaborating with the industry several projects were taken up by AEG and bridged the gap between Academia, Research institutes and the Industry. Very soon AEG conferences were venue for International participation, exchanging scientific developments and a great platform for Geophysicists and geoscientists. AEG started publication of the Journal of AEG in 1980 and continues to be an Internationally reputed Journal. The Journal attracts scientific papers from a large number of earth science institutions in India and abroad. Since inception of the Association more than 3000 papers were presented in the Annual seminars of the association. In addition, research papers were also received directly for publication in the journal. So far more than 1000 papers have been published between July, 1980 and January 2019. The New Executive Body of AEG is on the path of revival using latest publishing tools.
